Mayor Warren is Leading the Fight Against AIDS

Mayor Lovely A. Warren and the City of Rochester are working with Trillium Health to spread the word about HIV testing, prevention and treatment services in Rochester. The City is making information about HIV and AIDS prevention available at R-Centers and Libraries.  The City is also supporting Governor Cuomo’s detailed tree-point plan to move us closer to the end of the AIDS epidemic in New York State.  The goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections to just 750 (from an estimate of 3,000) by the end of 2020 and achieve the first ever decrease in AIDS prevalence in New York State.

“HIV and AIDS are particularly insidious because those who contract HIV are more likely to get poor health care, live in poverty or have mental health problems,” Mayor Warren said. “We must do everything that we can to protect our most vulnerable citizens. We stand in full support of the Ending the Epidemic Blueprint, the MOCHA Center and Trillium Health. Together, we can help reduce the scourge of AIDS in Rochester.”
